Okay, I made a character for my story, this isn't my protag, I haven't fully written out his profile yet, but this here is also one of the main characters. My friend said that she was okay, and her background has nothing wrong. However she said I was kind of distant and am more like describing her. She said I needed to be more in tune, but how do I do that? Below here is somewhat of a sample...I was told I needed to be more in tune, but can someone tell me what does that mean? And how do I improve? "Wants: My character wants to be accepted by others despite the many flaws she has. Growing up in a very different society, she has become near alien to human cultures. Avoids: My character wants to avoid humiliation and for others to take advantage of her using her ignorance. Gender: Female Place of Birth: London Hobby: Watching combat sports Past Job: Vagabonds Present Job: Student Past love interest: None Enemies: The Shatterspear Tribe Pet: Dog and parrot Why is she not working at the old job: It’s because her family thought it was for the best that they settled down so that they could live normally, and get away from their past. Why does she not make the hobby a profession: The reason for this is because of her unusual abilities. She truly enjoys combat sports, but she can’t enjoy it with others due to the fact that she possess strength exceeding most humans. That alone gives her to much of unfair advantage. It prevents her from interacting with others as she can’t stand on the same level as they can. How does she make the enemy: They were originally the people who served her mother until she eloped with her father, leaving them without a leader. Her mother’s actions were seen as heresy by the people she was supposed to lead, and as a result, the entire tribe turned on her and her family. How did the pet once save her life: It happened when she and her family had once stumbled across a rumored haunted forest. Her parents had told her to stay behind while they investigated the cause of the disturbance, mostly because they were concerned for her. Her father had left behind his parrot familiar as a companion to remove her boredom. She reluctantly complied and stayed behind. However it was at this time when her parents had left, did several members of the Shatterspear tribe appeared in the vicinity. She discovered their presence beforehand mostly due to her father’s parrot. She knew she was unable to fight them off, and had to proceed into the haunted forest in hopes of finding her parents who were the only ones with the ability to do so. The forest however proved to be treacherous and deceiving. No matter what she did, she couldn’t find a way out even after attempting to backtrack. Eventually after much mindless searching, the sheer terror of being alone in a haunted environment nearly broke her. She had almost given up hope when her father’s hunting dog broke through the forest’s enchantment and found her. Using both of her father’s pets and assistants, she was led out of the forest and back to her family. This incident caused her to grow a fondness for dogs and parrots. She aspires to get a hunting dog of her own after the incident. Things she wishes to avoid no matter what: She wants to avoid humiliating herself in public, and to avoid the attention her abilities bring. Because of her upbringing, and nature, she often finds herself unable to interact normally with others her age. Having travelled the world since young, she never had the chance to live like most other people. Because her family and herself have been involved with the supernatural since young, this leads her to feel somewhat alien whenever she’s in a town or a city. To her, the lack of supernatural puts her at unease. Having being raised by her parents who have been involved with the supernatural all their lives, she feels very out of place whenever she goes to a city or a town that is mostly technological reliant. it is not because she is completely machine illiterate that she feels out of place, but rather it gives her a strange and somewhat wrong feeling for her to be using technology in the first place. Having being raised in a supernatural environment, she barely understands the fundamentals of technology and transport. It is perhaps one of the reasons why she feels like it would be better for her to stick to old fashion methods of living. On several occasions, she attempts to learn more about society and the ways to integrate into it, however most of the time it never works. The awkward feelings she gets whenever using technology at times is somewhat repulsive, and so she is unable to put her heart into learning everything about it. Also, there are many moments where she tries to avoid embarrassing herself by not speaking whenever someone talks to her. The main reason is mostly because of the way she speaks. It is old fashion, and coupled with her lack of knowledge regarding the way other people her age speaks, it often results in her being the butt monkey of targeted jokes. Her accent coupled with the lack of knowledge regarding people her age in society causes a gap in communication even if they were speaking the same language. Lack of proper communication and understanding can cause her to feel afraid at times. She feels afraid of this mostly because she wants to be able to interact with others through communication, but without being able to understand their train of thought, she can never understand if the people are making fun of her or not. However this is but only smaller half of the two fears she has. The other fear is a side effect that comes with her abilities she inherited from her mother. Even though she meets many people along the way of her travels as a vagabond, she mostly was unable to bond with them. Having to move from place to place quickly, to avoid her mother’s pursuers made it hard to spend time with anyone. But that was only a part of the problem. The main and bigger part of the problem was that she simply didn’t fit in with society. She stood out in quite the negative manner. Her inhumane strength was not something she could control very well. At first she didn’t think much of it, but when she started hurting other people around her, she grew afraid of interaction, particularly physical interaction. Things like shaking of hands, could easily result in injuries at times due to her lack of control. Inability to speak properly coupled with an inability to physically interact, it is due to these two reasons that she is unable to live like most normal people her age. She tries to learn magic mostly in hopes of finding ways to control her inhumane strength, along with several other spells that she thinks could make life easier for her. She doesn’t dare get rid of her inherited ability, for she too knows that it’s vastly important, especially when dealing with supernatural beings. What is the one thing she wants more than anything: Friends who could accept her despite the way she really is. While many would change their ways and character, she refuses to. The reason for that is that she feels that changing her way of speaking just to be able to interact is wrong on her part. If one were to truly make friends with another, it shouldn’t be forced. Her manner of speaking is a huge part of herself, and thus she feels that she won’t be able to enjoy herself should she force herself to change who she really is just to be able to talk to others. She wants friends because she feels lonely. Her parents are good people…but it doesn’t fill the emptiness she feels every time she sees other children playing with one another. What she really wants is friends, and not just family. She wants friends and not just family because it is her belief that friends and family are like two sides of a coin. She believes that there are things one can only experience with friends, and things that one can only experience with family. She wants to feel the joy that comes with spending time with friends, and not just family. Her belief of friends being similar and yet different to family comes mostly from her observing and listening to other people. She is often told that there are some things that only friends can understand, and some things only family can understand. To do this, she attempts to find someone who is similar to her in a sense that they too have trouble integrating into society, or perhaps someone who understands what she’s going through. Often she tends to try and throw herself into situations where the supernatural is seemingly involved in hopes of finding another person like her. She knows that she and her family are not the only ones in the world with supernatural abilities, and sooner or later, she’ll meet some others who are like her if she keeps getting involved with the supernatural. Name: Her name is Amy Pentagon. Age: 15 years old. Physical appearance:She has somewhat sea-blue color fringe hair style tied up in a ponytail. Her body's size is slightly smaller then average compared to most girls her age. She stands at around a 140 centimeters tall in height. Family Background: Born to a set of parents who have been involved with the supernatural for a long time, it is of no surprise that she would inherit much of their talents and powers. Her father was a great magician who desended from Merlin, and her mother was a former queen of a tribe who worthship the earth. Since young she had been travelling the world with her parents due to a myraid number of reasons. The most notable one being for her safety. Abandoning her duties as a queen, her mother chose to leave with her father to travel the world. In doing so, she had betrayed those of her tribe. Travelling the world as they fled from the pursuers, Amy had plenty of time to see sights that no normal girl her age would be ever be able to experience. Her constant exposure to the supernatural has taught her plenty. For nearly a decade, she travelled around the world with her family, hoping from city to city, country to country in hopes of being able to throw of their pursuers. It was only during the age of fourteen did her family finally succeed in doing so. There they settled down in the city of London, where she was than allowed to live like most people her age." == And this is the sample. Some advice on how to improve anyone?
