Re: Getting more in tune with your character?

This is exactly the kind of thing that's good to do. =) I'm going to contradict Saer Gale here, and say it's not so important to know the tiny quirks and details of your character. I don't know which leg *I* put my pants on first, so I don't know that it helps to get too bogged down in things like that. but then, whatever works... The other thing I think you need to do is pay attention to your character's voice: the sort of words she uses, her grammar, the length of her sentences. For example, the character you just posted doesn't speak a lot like your average ten year old - she comes across as quite precocious. Think about the reason for that. Did she spend more time with adults than kids her age growing up? Is she trying to impress someone? Those sorts of things are important.
